Description
Introduction
Lack of proper nutrition caused by disease and inadequate food consumption are immediate causes of malnutrition seen mostly in low and middle income countries. Malnutrition therefore remains a core public health concern affecting the population especially vulnerable groups like children under five years, pregnant and lactating women and medical cases like HIV and TB. SDG 2 (End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture) articulate the need for achieving positive nutrition outcomes.
Healthcare workers and community health assistants should be able to understand and apply these concepts to help improve the nutrition outcomes of the target population which includes facility and community cases affected by under-nutrition.
